Jennette McCurdy

Jennette McCurdy stars on Nickelodeon's hit series iCarly, as Sam, Carly's best friend. The show airs on Nickelodeon, Saturdays at 8:00pm EST. We talked with Jennette about her role in this innovative new show!

The Star Scoop:

Tell us about your character in iCarly and what it's been like being part of the show.

Jennette McCurdy:

It's been truly amazing. It's been such a great experience. I've met so many awesome people. Castmates, and the crew. We just have a great time every day. Sam's a really fun character to play because she's really smart, she thinks on the ball, she has some great ideas. She's feisty and she's wacky and zany and a great character to play. She's so much fun.

The Star Scoop:

Is this your first regular series? What have you done before?

McCurdy:

I have done one other series regular part before, but the show didn't get picked up so that was kind of disappointing. I had done a few comedies, but other than that, everything that I did was really heavy drama.

The Star Scoop:

Have you seen the fan response toiCarly yet?

McCurdy:

Oh, yeah, it's crazy. I had no idea. As soon as it started, I'd go places, and people would just come up.

The Star Scoop:

Do you feel like you're able to have a normal life?

McCurdy:

I had a ton of great friends that I've had for a while that really keep me grounded, and of course, most of all, my family. My brothers, and my mom, everybody, and they're just there to keep me grounded and keep me living a regular life, because I think that's really important. In my free time, I'm on an ice hockey league. I also take some dance classes.

The Star Scoop:

Why has iCarly been so successful with the fans?

McCurdy:

I think kids can really relate to it. It's a show centered around three kids. Each of these kids have totally different personalities and real personalities. Real kids and real schools. You can go to any school, and you'll find kids with these types of personalities. There's real story lines to it. Whatever they're going through are things that real kids are going through in their schools.

The Star Scoop:

What should fans expect to happen on the show?

McCurdy:

We've gotten a ton of great, cool videos from kids, so really look forward to that. They're just showing everybody out there their talent. We've got so many good episodes, a really cool Halloween episode coming up, which is just a ball. It was so much fun to film. So many, you gotta watch it!

The Star Scoop:

What is something your fans should know about you?

McCurdy:

I think that I'm really just a real kid like everybody out there. Just because I do acting and whatever, it doesn't make me any different than every kid who goes to school and isn't involved in this business. I can get along with a lot of people.

The Star Scoop:

What else are you hoping to accomplish in your career?

McCurdy:

I would absolutely love to go into directing. I think that would just be phenomenal. Oh, I'd freak out. I'd especially like to venture out into feature films. Feature films would be fantastic?
