Danso Gordon and Austen Parros

Danso Gordon

The N brings to viewers a new show about an American family making the move from Ohio to Los Angeles. It will explore teen and family issues such as sexual identity, racial identity, and peer pressure. We chatted with two of the show's stars, Danso Gordon, previously seen in the Disney Channel show In a Heartbeat and Austen Parros, who has guest starred on Judging Amy.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

DANSO GORDON:

I grew up in Toronto. I am married, married for about a year and a half just about. I'm interested in producing; I'm getting more behind the camera. I love this business altogether - just creating something out of nothing.

AUSTEN PARROS:

I grew up in Colorado, rural Colorado. About six or seven years old, I picked up and moved to Colorado with my dad. Austen Parros

THE STAR SCOOP:

How did you get your start in the business?

GORDON:

I moved here to live with my father, and I had a friend in one of my high school classes who was an actor, and he was with an agency/management, and he got me to hook up with them. And from them, I moved on to somewhere else, and then to somewhere else, and then to somewhere else.

PARROS:

I started theater when I was thirteen years old and ever since I've had the acting bug. And then recently, about two years ago I got into film.

THE STAR SCOOP:

How did you end up on South of Nowhere? What has it been like for you?

GORDON:

A regular audition process. I was pretty excited [to get the role]. I was pretty curious how they were going to shoot it, to keep the integrity that the script had. That was pretty much my main concern. It's been a challenge, but like any challenge, you just have to grow from it. I'm definitely thankful for the experience.

PARROS:

It's been a learning experience, it's been a challenge. You have ups and downs. You have good days and bad days, like every job. But I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have challenges, so I can grow - that's a lifelong battle. The reality of the show - it's so true to life that it's kind of refreshing to see a show like this.

THE STAR SCOOP:

For the future, where do you see yourself in the next 10-15 years?

GORDON:

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to guess where I'm going to be at, but my goal then is to definitely have a family, produce, have some script that I star in, but I don't have to star in, I'm more excited about seeing projects that have substance, that people are passionate about doing it and they're not just doing it to get another paycheck. In 10-15 years I would hope that I'' be lucky enough to get to write, produce, and even direct.

PARROS:

Still doing what I'm doing. One of the things I'm getting into is writing, but I definitely want to continue acting. It's a lifetime appeal for me. But I do want to get into writing, see where that takes me.
