This is Kristy Frank, the energetic firecracker music star about to burst her way onto the scene. She's a multitalented act, with fashion and acting on her mind as well. Kristy kicks off our latest trend toward bringing you what you want - the latest music stars!
THE STAR SCOOP:
We should start out with what projects you're working on - what are you up to?
KRISTY FRANK:
My album, called "Freedom" will be released July 18th, so it's taking up a lot of time. I just had my release party for my album. That was so cool. My album - it's coming out - it's really surreal and exciting. Just been doing a lot of publicity and getting my name out there.
THE STAR SCOOP:
Why did you want to become a musician?
FRANK:
It's really in my blood. I was born dancing and singing. My mom was a dancer. Like even when I started walking, I started dancing before I could walk. My mom put me in dancing lessons when I was two and a half. They literally had to carry me off the stage. It was obvious I loved performing. I started singing when I was four, it just clicked. It was very obvious that's what I was meant to do. I honestly can't imagine myself being anything else. It's what I was born doing, and I feel like I was born to do it.
THE STAR SCOOP:
How much of your album were you involved with? What role did you take?
FRANK:
Totally. I was very involved. I was constantly in contact with my producers. I didn't get to write any of the songs that ended up on my album, but I have written songs in the past. I've written quite a few songs actually, I just never completed them for the album. When I was in the studio recording, they basically told me, do your thing, they're like, I want this to be your song, and so do what you feel you can do to make it unique and make it a Kristy Frank song. I named my album. Everyone was so supportive and so for me being part of the album. I was very part of the process.
THE STAR SCOOP:
What are you most excited about?
FRANK:
Just to finally release my album and get people to hear my music. This is a very long process. I think it will be an amazing feeling. I'm excited to go on tour and see what that feels like, to perform my songs in front of a live audience. There are so many cool things in the works, I'm just excited to get people to hear about me through my music.
THE STAR SCOOP:
How would you describe your sound, and your style?
FRANK:
It's really fun music. I just turned 16 and got my license, it's really fun music to drive to. I've always described my music as a mixture of Gwen Stefani and Sheryl Crow. I think they're amazing. I really wanted to have that kind of flair in my music. It's just really fun music.
THE STAR SCOOP:
What's the plan for your CD release?
FRANK:
Radio Disney is going to be a huge part of it. They've been so amazing and so supportive of me and my music. It's going to be played strongly on Radio Disney. I think it's going to be leaked onto the, you know, the top 40 stations. So that's kind of how it's going to work. I'm so excited. I'm very glad that my music fits their [Radio Disney] standards. Kids are my audience, and that's who I love to perform for.
THE STAR SCOOP:
So for those who want to know about you, how would you describe yourself?
FRANK:
I'm very enthusiastic about everything I do. I am a very confident person. I'm not cocky, but I'm very confident. I am very confident with who I am. I am enthusiastic about life. I've been told many times I'm one of the happiest people anybody's ever met. Any situation, I'll make it fun, even if I'm working. In my music especially, that shows. If I'm having fun in the studio, it shows.
THE STAR SCOOP:
What else are you working on that's not music related?
FRANK:
It's kind of in the works, it's going to be coming out later, but Rebel Girl is something we've been working on. It's an animated feature film. It hasn't been picked up or anything, but we're just waiting to put my album out and get my name out there. It's a really cool concept. It's about an ordinary girl, but by night, she's a rock star. Her alter ego, Rebel Girl, gets called in [to save the world, essentially] with her music. I think it's going to happen in the next few years. I'm releasing a perfume line. I'm really excited for that, that's something I've always wanted to do. I think perfume is so important, for me, I feel like it's that one accessory everyone has to have. It just caps off your outfit and gives you that extra boost of confidence. I plan on calling that BFrank. I want to do a clothing line. I'm taking acting classes. I want to do it all.
THE STAR SCOOP:
