Soul Asylum: The Silver Lining

The Silver Lining/Soul Asylum

THE STAR SCOOP's REVIEW:

Soul Asylum has been around for quite awhile, but with their latest release, "Silver Lining," they're introducing themselves to a whole new audience. This collection of songs blends well into today's musical style, but rings with echoes of the 80s and 90s, a welcomed jump back to the sounds of the past. The drums in the background of each song keep a pleasant beat, a plus for easy listening. The vocals are clear, and the album incorporates some nice instrumental segments as well, especially a nice one on track 8, "Success Is Not So Sweet." While the lyrics attempt to cover some serious topics, the sound can't help but be light and, again, pleasant. It works fabulously into a wonderful listen.

FAVORITES:

"Stand Up And Be Strong," "Lately," "Crazy Mixed Up World"

VERDICT:

It might have a "Silver Lining," but this one is gold!
