Vivien Cardone

Vivien Cardone

Vivien Cardone is sure to be a star, even a bigger one than she is today! With roles in movies like A Beautiful Mind and a regular spot on the WB's Everwood, it's not hard to see she's going places. The eleven year old Vivien gives us the scoop on everything from her costars, to what she got for her birthday. What a pleasure it was.

THE STAR SCOOP:

When did you know that you wanted to act?

VIVIEN CARDONE:

Well, it started out with my sister. And so one day my mom brought me in, and they saw me and they just wanted to try me out, see if I was good enough. And that's how I basically got in.

THE STAR SCOOP:

What a normal day in your life like, when you're not filming?

CARDONE:

When I'm not filming, and I have a school day, I just do my school, and when I finish my school I go and I play with my friends. Or I sit on the couch and watch TV.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Do you have any favorite TV shows you like to watch?

CARDONE:

Sponge Bob Square Pants. I idolize him.

THE STAR SCOOP:

What do you like to do in your free time?

CARDONE:

Well I just like to hang around with my friends and I like to talk and I like to eat a lot of candy.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Is that your favorite food, [candy]?

CARDONE:

Yeah - Twinkies are though. Twinkies are my most favorite food.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Everwood, which is what you're doing right now, is a really family oriented show. So could you tell us a little bit about your real family?

CARDONE:

Well, my mom is very cool. She's probably the coolest mom on the block. That's what they say, that's what the kids say. And my dad, he used to play softball, and my brother's into sports and my older sister, she's got a really good voice and my sister, my younger sister, we think she's going to be a lawyer when she grows up. She's very bossy.

THE STAR SCOOP:

You're 11 now?

CARDONE:

Uh-huh. I just barely had my birthday on April 14th.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Did you receive a lot of nice presents?

CARDONE:

Yes. I got Skip-It, and I got a lot of cute Hello Kitty clothes, and it was very sweet of everyone.

THE STAR SCOOP:

You play Delia [on Everwood], so are you a lot like her or are you really different?

CARDONE:

Okay, well on the one, she's a tomboy and I'm a complete girly-girl (laughs). Let's see, well, she likes to wear hats and I kind of like to wear hats. And I have this one hat that says spoiled and proud of it, and it's so true. But yeah, we're not very much alike.

THE STAR SCOOP:

How much of your time does it take to film Everwood? Is it hard for you to keep up with your schoolwork?

CARDONE:

Well, I have a tutor and it's kind of hard for me to do my schoolwork on the set because it's like, I've got a lot of scenes to do and it depends on how many scenes there are. It can go up to two hours, and maybe a little bit more than two hours. It can go all day. It can go up to nine and half hours, actually.

THE STAR SCOOP:

So, is it hard for you to play Delia?

CARDONE:

Well, it's pretty easy for me.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Your onscreen brother is Gregory Smith. In the show you don't really seem to get along well. But in real life do you two get along?

CARDONE:

Yes. He's very funny. The funniest thing he's ever done is he walks up to me and he starts rapping in front of me and he knows that I don't kind of like it.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Your other costar is Sarah Lancaster, who plays Madison. On the show you two definitely get along. Is it the same way in real life?

CARDONE:

Yes. She's very sweet. And we talk a lot, she's very funny, so it's fun to work with her.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Do you actually watch Everwood, with your family?

CARDONE:

Yeah.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Is it embarrassing for you?

CARDONE:

No, you get used to it after a while.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Do you watch any other shows on the WB?

CARDONE:

I watch Smallville. Smallville's a good show.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Do you have a certain role that someday you would want to play, or a certain character?

CARDONE:

Hmm. No, not really. I just do what I gotta do, basically.

THE STAR SCOOP:

So your biggest movie that you got to do was A Beautiful Mind, so how was it different, being on a movie set, from being on the set of a TV show?

CARDONE:

Well, it takes a lot longer to do a TV show. I signed a contract for six and a half years I think, but now two of them are gone. And A Beautiful Mind, it only took me what, four months? And so there's a huge difference there.

THE STAR SCOOP:

You got to work with Russell Crowe, and he's a pretty big actor. Was that at all scary for you?

CARDONE:

No, because I never really knew Russell Crowe, I didn't watch any of his movies, I just knew him as an actor and I was just very young. So when I met him he was just very sweet and he's very sweet now, he's got his own little son.

THE STAR SCOOP:

What do your friends think about you being a famous actress?

CARDONE:

Um, they just treat me like any old girl because they know that I'm not very special, I'm just like everyone else.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Do they see you on TV every week?

CARDONE:

Yes. They come over to my house. Sometimes they watch it with us, and they think it's cool.

THE STAR SCOOP:

So is there anyone else on the set Everwood that you're really close to? Some of your other costars are Treat Williams and there's Marcia Cross.

CARDONE:

Oh yeah. Treat Williams is very cool, and basically everyone there I'm very close with. Oh yeah, when she [Marcia Cross] got off she was very depressed when she got off of Everwood and we were very close and we were very good friends. She got me this cute little Hello Kitty bracelet - I love Hello Kitty, so that was very nice of her. Yeah, I miss her. We liked to talk.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Are there any secrets you can share from the new season of Everwood?

CARDONE:

Oh. Well I can't answer that one because I don't even know. We don't know anything that goes on right now.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Are you excited to do the new season?

CARDONE:

I'm gonna be excited to see all my friends again there, yeah.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Other than Everwood, are there any other projects that you're working on right now?

CARDONE:

Well, I guess I can tell you that I might, I might be going to Wales to shoot this horror movie called The Dark and so that's gonna be pretty dang fun. They're just changing the script a little bit because I have to say a bad word.

THE STAR SCOOP:

Is there something you think everyone should know about you?

CARDONE:

Well, I'm normal just like everyone else (laughs).
