Amber Stevens Exclusive Interview

Amber StevensAmber Stevens stars as Ashleigh on ABC Family’s new series Greek. The show has become one of summer’s bit hits with teens everywhere, all the while remaining a family show, of course. We caught up with Amber to learn more about why Greek is the life of the party.

THE STAR SCOOP:
How is Greek going for you?

AMBER STEVENS:
It’s really, really fun. We’ve spent a lot of time together, and we’re all really close friends. We watch the show together almost every week. We’re really happy with the way it’s turning out. We got a fun audience, and some cool fans so far. Very cool.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Were you expecting the show to be so well received?

AMBER STEVENS:
The show I knew would be a hit, [ever] since I read the script. The pilot episode was just hilarious and every single character was just so different from each other. I knew people could identify with all of them. It definitely has exceeded my expectations. I’m very excited about it. I knew it would be a big deal though. It’s so funny, there’s no way people can’t like it.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Tell us about your character, Ashleigh.

AMBER STEVENS:
Ashleigh is a really close friend of Casey’s. They became friends freshman year, and they live together in the sorority. She’s Casey’s closest friend, and whenever there’s drama, she’s always there. She can be insecure when it comes to guys, and has her weak moments, but she’s just a kindhearted person.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Do you think Greek accurately portrays Greek life?

AMBER STEVENS:
Well, every single college is different, so there’s gonna be opinions from everywhere of people saying, oh, it’s not accurate, but I’d say, for the most part, it is. And we try really hard to make it as accurate as possible, because we don’t want it to seem fake or cheesy or impossible. We want especially younger viewers to watch this show and have something to look forward to in college.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Would Greek life be something that would have interested you?

AMBER STEVENS:
Yeah, definitely. It would have really depended on where I go to school and if I found a group of girls that I identified with, and wanted to be friends with them, then I would have definitely joined. I didn’t have the chance to, because I only went to community college. But I would never be opposed to it, especially after doing this show and realizing more what the [Greek] life would be.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Where do you think the show is heading?

AMBER STEVENS:
Every character is going to be developing more. You’ll learn about why they act the way they do, and you’ll learn a little bit about their past. There once was a friendship between Evan and Cappie, and you’re going to find out why they’re not friends anymore. You’ll find out things like if Calvin is ever going to come out of the closet and who he wants to talk to about it. More drama, more fun stuff.

THE STAR SCOOP:
What message do you want to give to all of your fans?

AMBER STEVENS:
Thanks for watching, and I hope that we’re doing a good job, and that for all the people who are gonna go to college that they watch the show and have something to look forward to. For all the people who are in college or have finished college, it reminds them of all the good times they had when they were there.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Is there anything about yourself that your fans should know, before we let you go?

AMBER STEVENS:
Actually, before I even started acting, I did music. I started playing piano when I was four, and have been playing ever since. And I sing, and I definitely have a music career in mind for myself, and I’m never going to stop trying. It’s definitely one of my other passions.
