She’s been acting since she was in middle school:
Makela was a child actor and was acting since she was in middle school.
She landed a role 2 weeks after moving to Los Angeles:
While many young actors struggle to get their first role in Los Angeles, Makela was extremely lucky and managed to get cast in her first Hollywood role, Dance Flick. Dance Flick, was released in 2009 and was produced by the Wayan Brothers. It was a spoof film which makes fun of popular dance movies such as Hairspray and Step Up. If you watch Dance Flick make sure to keep an eye out for Chelsea’s character Tracey Transfat, who was inspired by the character of Tracey in the musical Hairspray.
Following her appearance in Dance Flick, Makela continued dancing as she fell in love with dancing during the filming of Dance Flick. As a result of her frequent workouts Makela ended up losing around 100 pounds.
She’s a triple threat:
Makela is a triple threat, not only can she act and dance but she can also sing. In fact, at the age of 14 Makela was asked to perform at Carnegie Hall.

In a candid interview, Makela revealed that she is a cancer survivor and was diagnosed with cancer at just 8 years of age. Makela stated that she actually visited the emergency room for a totally unrelated condition and the doctors picked up on the fact that she had cancer. Luckily she went straight to surgery and then went through chemotherapy and four years later Makela had made a full recovery.
She is now a working producer:
She owns her own production company which is named Makela Productions. One film which Makela recently produced was the 2022 feature film Envinced. Which revolves around an anonymous user who uploads prediction videos about the country’s future. When the mystery man behind the video predictions ends up in hot water, his only option is to seek assistance from the detective, who has been charged with hunting him down. Envinced stars Don Kennedy, Xavier Alvarado and Rachel Webb. If you enjoy sci fi flicks, fantasy films or pyschological thrillers, it’s well worth checking out Envinced.
As well as producing films, Makela also produces TV series. One example of which is Bothered, a 10 episode TV series which follows the adventures of two twenty something roommates. As Bothered has been well received, it’s highly likely that Makela will continue developing and producing new TV series.
