TheStarScoop.Com spoke with One Tree Hill cutie Jackson Brundage about playing James Lucas Scott and his work with the organization CURED.
The Star Scoop:
Tell us about your character, James Lucas Scott. How does he compare to you in real life?
Jackson Brundage:
Jamie is a pretty normal kid who often finds himself giving the adults in his life answers to their problems, probably because James spends most of his time around adults. Jamie and I have some things in common. We both like sports, music, and getting nosy in adult conversations. But Jamie has dealt with death and I haven’t.
The Star Scoop:
What do you like most about being part of One Tree Hill?
Jackson Brundage:
Working with the best cast and crew there is but also getting to hang out and play, watch movies, and eat pizza with all the friends I’ve made when we’re not working.
The Star Scoop:
Do you have any favorite moments from filming the show?
Jackson Brundage:
My favorite moments over the last seasons include Jamie getting to eat in the scenes regularly and playing basketball. I did enjoy running from the nanny in the corn field even though it was a really hot, sticky summer that day.
The Star Scoop:
Have you learned anything about yourself from playing this character or have your costars taught you anything?
Jackson Brundage:
What I’ve learned the most is that it takes hard work to make a great show, and how important it is to be there during the scenes for cast mates.
The Star Scoop:
Tell us about being involved in CURED (Campaign Urging Research for Eosinophilic Disease).
Jackson Brundage:
I’ve already been in it two times, with annual fundraisers in Chicago. I’ve learned more about the disease each time and how hard it is for the kids suffering with the disease to get through a daily routine. Most of them eat through feeding tubes and are receiving an amino acid to give their bodies nutrients and I really can’t imagine how hard that must be.
The Star Scoop:
What made you want to be involved with this charitable organization?
Jackson Brundage:
A fan of the show, whose name is Jory, visited the set of One Tree Hill where we got to learn about her illness and foundation. She is a really great person and asked if I [was] interested in attending their fundraiser. I said it was great because I’m a kid and helping other kids.
The Star Scoop:
You recently attended their 7th annual fundraiser. What was that like?
Jackson Brundage:
It was really great! A lot more people came and a lot more money was made for the research to find a cure. I signed a couple autographs and got to hang out with fans of the show and Jory and her family.
The Star Scoop:
You’re still a kid, so what do you do for fun besides acting?
Jackson Brundage:
I like to spend time on my trampoline that we have in the backyard. Hanging out with my friends when I can and playing golf with my dad and my brother. I also enjoy being a sack of potatoes in front of the TV on the weekends.
The Star Scoop:
What projects do you have coming up or what would you like to do next?
Jackson Brundage:
An episode of NCIS [recently aired]. I’m hoping to do a film in the near future, and I’d love to do an action movie.
The Star Scoop:
Lastly, what would you like to say to your fans?
Jackson Brundage:
I would like to say thanks for watching the show. Keep watching in hopes for a Season 8. Remember the season finale next week. You won’t wanna miss it!
