THE STAR SCOOP:
Tell us about Chuck, and what’s going on with you at the moment.

JULIA LING:
We finished shooting a couple weeks ago, and so we just wrapped that up. Also I’ve got another movie that starts production right now, High School. In this down time right now I am just training really, really hard in martial arts every day anywhere between two to four hours. It’s been consuming my life, my time. I get so sore I don’t want to get out of bed. I just kind of force myself to get out. I just really want to become as great as I can be in martial arts. I’m getting into film producing in different languages. I speak several languages. Hopefully I’m also going to record something soon. I’m definitely really happy where I am. It’s a lot of work…I want to continue to do video games and movies and I want to learn to direct someday and produce. I want to become the best actress that I can be. Every day I’m watching movies and studying.

THE STAR SCOOP:
You’ve got a lot going on!

JULIA LING:
It’s important to continue to learn, to grow as a person and it’s everything I love. Everything really artsy.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Tell us more about High School.

JULIA LING:
I play a stoned nerd. She was a three time state spelling bee champion and she was high on drugs and she gets up to do her thing. It’s really funny. I really felt like at the end of the movie, I was a master of rolling joints [laughs]. It’s a comedy. The director, John Stalberg, he’s got a vision, a style. He’s doing it a really different way. I can’t really explain it. It like I’ve never seen before. I was really excited to work on it. I’ve been a huge fan of The Shield and Michael Chiklis from cite>The Shield was staring in it. So I got to meet him for the first time. He’s just such a great guy. Completely not who he is on cite>The Shield. I learned a lot from him. We had a great time hanging out and talking. It was really exciting to work with Adrien Brody.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Tell us about the video game, “Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 – Uprising.”

JULIA LING:
It was insane. We went to the local video game store. But it was all sold out so I didn’t get to play. We’re going to go looking again. But I play this character named Izumi, and she’s the sister of the chick on the cover, the girl you’re actually going to be controlling. It’s really cool. I had so much fun working on that because I grew up role playing and I love video games so just to actually be in one was like beyond my wildest imagination. It was awesome.

THE STAR SCOOP:
What did you learn from being on Chuck?

JULIA LING:
Because it’s like a family to me, after a while, there’s this great chemistry and you start to really feel comfortable. When you get really comfortable on set, you can start to really create, be that character. I think I took from Chuck that level of comfort. When I walked onto “Command & Conquer” I felt like I just brought it with me, this is my family, and I hadn’t even met any of these people before.

THE STAR SCOOP:
So tell us more about producing.

JULIA LING:
I’m studying it. It’s definitely one of my interests, goals in life. There’s a few ideas I’ve got. It’s in the making. When it’s time to talk about that, I will talk about it.

THE STAR SCOOP:
What do you want your fans to know?

JULIA LING:
If I were to tell my fans something directly, I would want to say thank you very much for all their support. Because it’s not an easy business, and when I first got into Hollywood, I literally just left my other dreams aside. I wanted to be a neurosurgeon for most of my life. I studied medicine. I pursued that for like ten years. I studied chemical engineering with a biomedical focus in college at UCLA, and that was a very, very real dream. I was really passionate about it. When I had to choose – I love art, I love performing, and I had to pick one because I didn’t want to spread myself thin, it was really hard to give that other dream up. Going into Hollywood, which I ultimately decided to do, was kind of scary. I didn’t know anybody. I didn’t have any support. I started from scratch. I worked really, really hard. For my fans to give me the feedback they give me, it makes me so happy. It really gives me the strength to go on. It really reassures me that I am doing the right thing.
