THE STAR SCOOP:
What are you up to these days? Are you shooting, are you on a break, what’s going on in your life?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
I actually just finished shooting the last season of Drake and Josh, which I’m on, on Nickelodeon. We just finished a few months ago, and they actually just started airing.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Do you have any episodes or specific [story lines] you’re looking forward to seeing?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
Well, Drake finally has a long term relationship, which he like, never has. As for me, just a lot more pranks, of course. My character [Megan] is really devious, and she’s always doing things to them. This season I got to do a bunch of crazy things.

THE STAR SCOOP:
How would you describe the overall experience that Drake and Josh has been for you?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
It’s just been so much fun getting to work with Drake and Josh. I mean, they’re like two of the funniest guys ever, and they make me laugh every day a million times. So that’s just been really fun. Drake’s all into music and dancing, so it’s been cool to get to like, be influenced by the music he likes. We actually did swing dancing together for a while on set, which was fun. He’s really good and I’m not though.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Since you’ve been on Drake and Josh, has that helped you get other roles?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
I don’t know. I mean, sometimes when I try out for auditions, of course, I’ve found that a lot of the casting director’s kids or people who that work there,[their] kids will know the show, which is kind of cool.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Do you have any other [projects] that you’re working on?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
I’ve just been auditioning, and I’m kind of just figuring out what I want to do now.

THE STAR SCOOP:
What else are you interested in? People see you on TV, obviously that’s not really necessarily who you are. What do you like to do for fun?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
I actually, as far as sports go, I actually fence, and I horseback ride, and I play the guitar, which is really fun. Basically, I just hang out with my friends and go see movies constantly. I’m a movie junkie, I love movies. We have a Friday night movie thing, everybody from Drake and Josh meets and we go see a movie every Friday night.

THE STAR SCOOP:
How did you get into horseback riding?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
Oh, actually my friend lives in Burbank, and I go to the Burbank Equestrian Center. She went all the time, and I thought it was really cool, and I was always jealous, because, who didn’t love horses? So one day she actually asked me to go with her, so I went, and I’ve been taking lessons, and doing it ever since.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Has anybody given you some really good advice? Have you picked up any tips from any of the stars you’ve had the opportunity to work with?

MIRANDA COSGROVE
Drake always says not to act like you’re better than everybody else, because a lot of people get into acting, and they get like a commercial or something, and they think they’re a big star, which is terrible. So he’s helped me with that, not acting like you’re really great?

THE STAR SCOOP:
Do your friends still treat you like the same person?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
I’m lucky because all of my friends are from elementary school, so they just see me as the same dorky Miranda that they knew before. So they still think I’m a total dork, the TV show doesn’t help. It’s kind of nice sometimes when people recognize you and it’s really cool, like, to be with your friends, and people come up to you.

THE STAR SCOOP:
So you said you really like movies. Is there someone that you haven’t had the chance to work with that you’d like to one day? To be in a film with or TV show?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
I’m like in love with Rachel McAdams, I think she’s so cool. And Orlando Bloom, of course.

THE STAR SCOOP:
What is the process for you, now that your show has filmed all its episodes, how do you decide what auditions to go out for, find new roles? What goes on behind the scenes for you?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
Well, my agency just sends me scripts of, you know, movies with good girl parts for my age, and I usually just go through them. Sometimes my parents go through them first, to like, check them out, and make sure they’re okay for me to read. I just read through them and the ones I really like are the ones I go for the most. I guess that’s like that with anything, though.

THE STAR SCOOP:
When you started off wanting [to act], how did you go from that idea, to getting a role on a hit show?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
I’ve actually always lived in LA, which is a good place for auditioning if you want to be an actor, so I was lucky there. But actually, I hadn’t ever really thought of being an actor, but when I was three, an agent walked up to my mom and asked if I wanted to do modeling and print. You know, you hear about that all the time, agents coming up to kids. Anyway, I just kind of did commercials and modeling and stuff, and I thought it’d be fun, and then when I was seven I really realized that I loved doing it, and that’s when I started trying out for more theatrical things and actually roles and plays and stuff like that.

THE STAR SCOOP:
When you do a show like Drake and Josh, do you have to learn how to be a little more silly and not as embarrassed as easily? They probably do a lot of silly stuff.

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
Yeah, all the time. We’re constantly laughing. People mess up their lines all the time, but it’s just funny. It’s like a big family now, because, once you get to know everybody so well, it was our fourth season we just did, so, it’s like we know each other so well, nothing is embarrassing anymore. So that’s nice. But of course when I first started, I was really nervous about meeting Drake and Josh just from seeing them on the Amanda show. I was like, so nervous about acting with them. I was like, oh my God. But now it’s really comfortable, and it’s really fun.

THE STAR SCOOP:
There are a lot of girls who probably look up to you. Do you have any advice for them about the business?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
Just to keep trying and not give up, because I have a lot of friends that are actors that try out for auditions, and it’s just all about getting the part that’s right for you, so sometimes it takes a while. A lot of people try out for one audition, and they think they’re going to get it right away, and then when they don’t, they feel bad. But it’s really no big deal, most people have to try and try, so just keep trying, and work at it, and you’re eventually get it.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Do you get the chance to still go to school?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
I actually do online school. It’s my first year doing it, it’s really strange. Last year I did home schooling more, now it’s like an online thing. I hang out with my friends all the time, my next-door-neighbor is my age, and she’s a crack up, and I hang out with her all the time. So that helps. I’ve pretty much stayed in touch with all my friends from school, because I went to elementary school all the way through, so I’m friends with all of them. So we hang out all the time, see movies together. The program I’m with actually has a day where you go and you get to meet kids and like, take classes, which is really cool. So I’ve gotten to do that, which is fun. You get to meet new people, and kids your age.

THE STAR SCOOP:
If kids want to see you, once Drake and Josh is over, are they more likely to find you maybe on another TV show or in a movie? What do you like doing better?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
I actually like both. I mean, with movies, it’s fun, because you get to travel [to] different places and stuff like that, and plus it doesn’t take as long. But I love being on a TV show because you get to know the people so well, just from seeing them everyday. And, you get to come back, which is fun. It’s not as sad either, at the end, because you know you have another season coming. So that’s nice. It’s very different. With movies, we usually have single camera, and during the TV shows, it’s much different with the four cameras, at least that’s the way we shoot it. But, I like both ways. I don’t know, I would love to do both.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Do you have any goals for the future? What would you like to accomplish?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
I definitely want to go to college. That’s a big thing with me. I have a few friends, that we’re like, already planning, and we want to go to the same college, which would be really fun. I don’t know. I’d love to be an actor, but I’d also like to be a marine biologist. I’m really into the sea, so…

THE STAR SCOOP:
Anything that didn’t come up that you might want to add, to let your fans know about?

MIRANDA COSGROVE:
I just want to say thanks to all my fans for watching Drake and Josh, and for all their support.
