Rachel Specter has been seen in a slew of commercials, and is best known as the hottie of the RGX Body Spray. She’s set to appear in a handful of movies, including the Anna Farris comedy I Know What Boys Like with Katharine McPhee and Rumer Willis. We caught up with Rachel to get the scoop on Hollywood’s next potential It Girl.
THE STAR SCOOP:
What can you tell us about your background, how you got into the business?
RACHEL SPECTER:
I grew up in Florida, and there’s not really much to do there as far as acting goes, professional acting. I always wanted to act. When I was little I took classes and did community theater. There’s really not much more you can do there. Then I went to college, and I was very practical, and I always knew that I would end up moving to L.A. and acting, but I wanted to get my education first, focus on that. So after school, I moved to L.A. I didn’t know anyone, didn’t have anyone to help me or tell me what to do. So I kind of just threw myself into it on my own, and just learned everything from experience.
THE STAR SCOOP:
What are some of the different commercials people would know you from?
RACHEL SPECTER:
What people mostly recognize me from is the campaign I did for RGX Body Spray. I’ve been told they’re memorable commercials (laughs). So, I’ve had people everywhere from the grocery store to bars like, are you that girl from the commercial? I’m like, yeah. They definitely remember it. I’ve done as well a lot of TV shows.
THE STAR SCOOP:
Tell us about what projects you’re working on now.
RACHEL SPECTER:
Yeah, I’ve had a crazy summer. I’m doing four movies. I’ve almost finished one called I Know What Boys Like. It is a hilarious comedy that is produced by Adam Sandler, staring Anna Faris. She plays Hugh Hefner’s girlfriend, one of the girlfriends, and she gets kicked out of the mansion. She finds herself on a college campus and ends up becoming the house mom for this sorority of girls. Each girl has some problem or situation, like wearing a back brace. One girl is pregnant. It’s kind of like a quirky sorority.

What was it like working with all the big names involved in this movie?
RACHEL SPECTER:
Yeah, Katharine McPhee, Rumer Willis, it’s really great. We have an ensemble cast and everyone can get together and work together. It’s like a party, kind of. But everyone’s really sweet. We all get along well, and we’ve become friends. I love doing comedy [and] it’s just really great to work with Anna Faris. She’s considered the funniest young actress in Hollywood right now, so I just watch her work.

Why will fans like I Know What Boys Like?
RACHEL SPECTER:
It’s a hilarious comedy. It’s by the writers of Legally Blonde so, it kind of feels similar to that. It’s really funny. It appeals to all types of people so I think that it will be really great.
THE STAR SCOOP:
Has this been a really busy year for you thus far?
RACHEL SPECTER:
It has. It’s definitely been my busiest year. It was great. I haven’t really had a chance to relax…it’s been great, it’s the way I like it.

Now that you’re doing movies, will that be where your focus is?
RACHEL SPECTER:
You know, I like both mediums a lot [TV and movies]. I think right now, there’s so much crossover, that you don’t have to focus on one or the other. I really enjoy being on a film. It’s kind of like being in camp. You spend a lot of hours with the same people for a couple of months. It’s a great environment, I really like that. TV is also great. Can’t really say that I would do one over the other.
