THE STAR SCOOP:
As someone who has been really successful in music, what made you want to be part of a reality show?

BLU CANTRELL:
Actually, the reason why I decided to be part of this is because I always really loved the Circus. When I was very young I loved Cirque Du Soleil and this is basically like celebrity Cirque Du Soleil. When I was young, I dreamed of being in the circus. It was my second love. I really wanted to do that besides sing. When the opportunity arose, a lot of people come to me with reality shows, and I was like, Uh, that’s not really for me. I’m not really into the reality TV thing. When this was brought to me, I was like, Oh my God, I definitely have to be part of this. This is something very different. The producers who are doing it do Fear Factor and Extreme Home Makeover..

THE STAR SCOOP:
What qualities that have made you successful in the singing world will help you be successful in this reality show?

BLU CANTRELL:
Well, I think it’s a totally different thing. It has nothing to do with singing. It’s a whole other thing. I think it’s learning something new and it’s just a matter of whether you have it or you don’t have it, and I think I’m doing a really great job. It’s something totally new. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a singer, whether you’re an actor. We’re all celebrities, but it’s just about learning the craft…and being good at it.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Who is a threat? Who do you need to watch out for?

BLU CANTRELL:
Everybody is really good. Everybody really gets along. It’s not like a competitive thing, everybody’s like family.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Why do you think America is going to be drawn to Celebrity Circus?

BLU CANTRELL:
I think America’s going to be drawn to this show because there is a certain danger to it. People like to see that. Everybody here is learning something totally new and it has nothing to do with what talent you have at this time. It’s about bringing out something in yourself that you didn’t know you had. It takes a lot of determination and a lot of will power. It’s way more grueling than going to boot camp or something. The training is six hours a day. You get hurt. I’m sitting here with ice packs on my shoulders as we’re speaking. I fell today, off of like 20 feet in the air. They caught be but I fell. It was not cool, so it’s really dangerous.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Were you afraid, going in, of getting hurt?

BLU CANTRELL:
Everybody’s kind of facing their fears, and I’m facing my fear of heights, and I think that’s what the public will love it for. They’re all trying to face a fear within themselves.

THE STAR SCOOP:
So what have you been up to?

BLU CANTRELL:
I’m specifically working on a new album. It’s about time. It’s been about three or four years, so, I think it’s time for me to get one out and I’m doing that, and I’m getting into acting. I’m taking everything day by day.}

THE STAR SCOOP:
Is there pressure on you to have a hit album?

BLU CANTRELL:
There’s always that pressure. You always think about that, but I try not to really focus on what I’ve done in the past. I just try to make something that I know that people would want to hear. I try to make something that I love to hear, that touches my ear, something that I love to sing, and hopefully they’ll love what I love, too. That’s really what I base it off of. I don’t try to worry too much about whether it is going to be a hit or not. I just try to make something that I think is beautiful and melodic.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Your success makes you such a great role model. What advice do you have for our readers?

BLU CANTRELL:
I would say, even when you can’t do it, just keep trying to do it…push yourself as far as you can go. Never say you can’t. Get up and dust yourself off, and try again. I would tell young people don’t do drugs, and choose the people you surround yourself wisely. Keep God close to you.

THE STAR SCOOP:
What do you want your fans to know?

BLU CANTRELL:
I want them to know that I love them, and I miss them.
