Charice began as a YouTube sensation but is now a downright sensation in the music industry, impressing everyone from David Foster to Josh Groban to Oprah. Charice’s May 11 international studio album release does not disappoint.The expected big vocals appear on ballads like “In This Song” and “All I Need to Survive.” The album consists of many of songs which seem designed to show off Charice’s voice. However, Charice also embraces dance and R&B with lead single “Pyramid” featuring her lablemate and fellow chart topper, Iyaz. On “Nothing” Charice continues in this vein and successfully blends catchy and up-beat with the strength of her voice a la Christina Aguilera. But Charice is unique vocally, and her album is a testament to this that will garner her new fans and impress her loyal ones.
